"Divorce results in the death of a marriage but does not have the finality of a physical death. The vestiges of a former way of life remain to remind and over shadow a present existence. It's a hurt that goes deep and is accompanied by the doubt that it will ever heal."

Divorce & Relationship Recovery Group

Divorce may be defined as "the ending of a marriage by an official decision in a court of law", or more generally as "a complete separation or split". In this group we take the more general view.

If you have experienced an irretrievable breakdown of a significant relationship then this Divorce & Relationship Recovery Group is for you! The group sessions offer a secure environment for the discussion and understanding of ones feelings. The course uses material, which raises awareness and focuses constructive self-exploration.
The topics cover key issues week by week:-
  1. Is This Really Happening To Me? ... Accepting and letting go of the past
  2. Assuming New Responsibilities ... Planning for yourself and your future
  3. Coping With Your Ex-Spouse ... A relationship reality that continues to exist
  4. Family Matters
  5. Forgiving & Letting Go
  6. Thinking about New Relationships
The Divorce & Relationship Recovery Group is restricted to six sessions to encourage participants to take the next step themselves. Week 7 is the start of a social support group organised by participants. (An alternative format is the 2-day Divorce & Relationship Recovery Workshop, which is more intensive. However, the six-week 2-hour weekly group is recommended to enable more time to absorb and reflect upon each session.) The series of weekly workshops is more preferable to the recovery process than a condensed weekend seminar format. Having seven nights to sleep between sessions is an important factor in coming to terms with issues raised..
