Anger Management for Adults

Course Overview:
Chronic anger can be costly, both physically and emotionally. Most people can use their anger in appropriate ways in some situations, and yet be ineffectual in others.
In this group, we will explore how anger arises. Participants will learn new skills to relate to anger without harming ourselves or anyone else, and how to reduce it, especially in provocative situations. They will learn effective coping behaviors to stop escalation and to resolve conflicts. Join us for this ex-citing exploration.
Methodology:
The group employs the three major anger management interventions by using model presentations, rehearsal, positive feedback and promoting. Graduated homework assignments allow participants to apply their newly acquired skills.

Learning Outcomes:
In this program participants are instructed on how to:
· Reduce levels of anger in provocative situations
· Learn effective coping behaviors in order to halt escalation and to resolve conflicts
The goal is not to talk about each member's anger experience, to process anger, to understand individuals' psychodynamics'' of anger, or to ventilate anger

Interested persons may call or e-mail (see contact info below) for an initial consult session to discuss the process of participation. The Anger Management Group Program is most useful for people who are willing to honestly examine and recognize the consequences of their problem.
Recommended for:
This programme is designed for individuals who have encountered problems at work, home, school or with the law as a result of their anger.
Non-mandated participants:
As this group uses a skill building format participants are therefore strongly encouraged to attend all weekly sessions consecutively.
Court mandated participants:
In order to complete the program, participants must arrive at each session on time, participate in group discussions and complete all assignments. Participants must agree to discontinue any angry behaviors which have resulted in their admission to the Anger Management Program for the duration of the program.

Anger Management Group
for Adolescents

Anger is a strong emotion that all people feel. The process of learning how to keep the anger from making us snap and lose control continues for life. Adolescents are making the monumental transition from childhood to adulthood during the 21st century. These group sessions will help them through this most difficult, and critical time so they may enter adulthood with the power to control their anger.
This is a comprehensive 6 week program that explores effective, nonviolent methods of resolving conflicts, managing anger and preventing violence. Participants learn how to create and assess options for resolving conflicts in a more productive manner. They also learn how to better manage reactions to conflicts and stressful situations.

Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the situations/stressors that usually lead to anger
- Identify the emotions beneath the anger
- Develop techniques to battle the anger monster
- Control the situation and manage the anger
- Accept communication from an angry person without snapping
- Communicate without provoking a fight
- Identify and practice conflict resolution skills
- Analyze problems and apply problem solving techniques
- Develop decision making skills for use in daily life
- Demonstrate skills in critical and strategic thinking, questioning,
active listening, and preparing and organizing materials
